Today, the children visited Newcastle University Library where they got to handle items from the University’s Archives and Special Collections, including material related to the First World War.
They found out about the role played by Armstrong College as a military hospital – 1st Northern General – during World War I and saw old photographs of some of the wards before acting as time detectives and rediscovering Ward A1 for enlisted men (King’s Hall) and Ward C1 for officers (the Hatton Gallery).
