Morning registration was disturbed by the unexpected arrival of a time travelling Air Raid Warden from 1941!
Warden Wilkinson crashed into the classroom and quickly took control of the squad of surprised young wardens. Wilkinson took the children through a quick inspection of kit items including gas mask, rattle, bell and whistle and a checklist of do’s and don’ts during air raids and the blackout.
The warden agreed to accompany his squad on their morning patrol. At the DOUBLE….quick, march!
And a surprise…Mr Wilkinson The Warden, turned out to be William Arthur Wilkinson’s (the founder and owner of the Wilkinson’s lemonade factory) great grandson. Small world!
